 HARD FLOOR CARE

TOP SCRUBBING AND RECOATING

The quarterly top scrub procedure removes the surface of the finish where dirt may have become embedded.  Recoating replaces finish that has worn off the floor.

PRODUCTS :

  • Buckeye Blue - "The" All Purpose Cleaner
  • Castleguard (for High - speed program)
  • Mainstream (for Low - speed program)

SUPPLIES :

  • Bucket of Clear Water
  • 2 Mops
  • Edge Scrubbing Tool
  • Wet Vacuum
  • Low Speed Floor Machine with a Scrubbing Pad

ROCEDURES :

1.

A mop bucket of Buckeye Blue  "The" All-Purpose Cleaner diluted through the Action Control System at 2 ounces per gallon will serve as the scrubbing solution.  Flood the floor with Buckeye Blue solution.  Don't wring the mop.  Flood the floor using a fully loaded mop and let it dwell for 10 minutes.

2.

Scrub the edges and any hard-to-reach areas with a manual scrubbing tool.  Then scrub the floor with the low-speed machine using overlapping passes for total coverage.

3.

Flood rinse with clear water and pick it up with the wet vacuum.  Mop up any trails and puddles that the wet vacuum left behind - especially around baseboards - and the floor is ready for 2 new coats of finish.

Following the program of daily cleaning and interim top scrubs, Buckeye floor finish will last a long time.  But when you find that you can't get the gloss you expect, that probably means that there isn't enough finish on the floor.  A total strip out and recoat is required to get this floor back up to the 4 coats of clean finish necessary for proper protection and maintenance.
